DESCRIPTION:Dance Court\nMeet Ups: Thursdays\, Sept. 10th\, 17th\, 24th 6pm-8pm\nWorkshops: Saturdays\, Sept. 12th + Oct. 3rd\, 4pm-6pm\nAt Central Playground \nA music city initiative; Dance court is a Free freestyle dance session designed to connect dancers across generations and dance styles. \n  \nAbout Dance Court: \nWe were inspired by our friends at DS4SI’s Dance Court project to think about making more space for dance in public. We knew Khari Ricks\, artist and longtime friend (back to the ORNG Ink days) would be the best person to envision and facilitate a Dance Court in Orange. \nKhari says: \n“After many years of traveling to New York to dance all night long and to practice with my family there I am making space to play\, exchange and learn in my hometown of Orange! Thursday will be open practice\, and monthly there will be a free intensive class meant to put dances that are related into context with one another.  For example: Jersey Club and House. \nI told myself when I started learning to house dance intensively that if I ever got the chance I would lower the barrier of entry for young Black folks who were interested in learning by providing free lessons while paying our legends for their knowledge! I am so proud to say that this is the first iteration of that dream.”

DESCRIPTION:Autonomous Spaces Series: Sergio Campos\nThursday\, August 13th\, 6:30pm-8pm \nPlease join us as we welcome Sergio Campos for our autonomous spaces series: \nMy name is Sergio Campos and I am a proud Lenca descendant from a place originally known as Cuzcatlan\, the land of precious stones now known as the country of El Salvador. My thirst for knowledge\, connection\, and curiosity started at a very young age\, and my travels have brought me to many different places. I have spent years cultivating community in many communal spaces through our connection to ancestral foods\, resilience\, language and art traditions and continue that work here on Turtle Island and many other places like Tonacatepeque. The best thing I can do to express my love and connection to these lands is to share my knowledge and experiences while constantly learning and gaining wisdom and insight from the amazing people that I continue to meet all around me. To me\, staying rooted and grounded in my traditions is a lifelong practice that constantly inspires me to connect all of us to the past\, present\, and future we are creating together. \n  \nREGISTER HERE
