This course focuses on basic Western tonal music theory and harmony through studying major and minor scales, intervals, chords, singing, ear-training and direct practical application of the materials presented in class on our primary instruments. Students are asked to bring instruments to class and to practice material outside of class time. Beginners as well as more experienced music theorists are welcome. Class will be divided into groups according to the experience of the class members. Some class sessions will be devoted to listening to and sharing music. Field trips are encouraged.
