“The University of Orange Fundraising Committee has been working all summer on its first major undertaking, a crowdsourcing campaign on Indiegogo. Marketing expert Geanine Thompson suggested that we have an event in the last week of the campaign. This would be a focus for communicating to possible donors, and a good way to have fun. Long discussions of the event followed. Becky Doggett, who’s run many campaign rallies, said, “I wonder if we could have a VIRTUAL RALLY, so people wouldn’t actually have to come a place but could participate?” This led to the idea of webcasting a storytelling evening. We’ve asked each of the storytellers to recruit their friends to donate in their name — and we have prizes — one for the storyteller who gets the most donations and one for the best story — to be voted on by the people present and on the internet. That’s the story behind tonight’s “Hidden Treasures of Our Orange Storytelling Event” to be held today, September 2nd, 6-8 PM, at 580 Forest Street, Orange, and on the internet – the link will be posted later today. Tune in, donate, vote, and listen to stories that will make you laugh, cry and cheer!”
