Community Musicology explores the role of music in our city, and the ways the city of Orange shapes the work of local musicians. The Community Musicology Class and Research Group (CM&RG) brings scholars alongside musicians and residents of Orange, NJ.
CMC&RG uses music as an entry point to learn about the city. In Orange, there are many languages spoken, many unique cultural practices, and it all happens in 2.2 square miles! We say that everything you need to know about US Cities you can learn in Orange, NJ. Because of the expanse of the international music‐making in Orange, the CMC&RG allows participants a lens by which to see all corners of our world.
